College/Career Visits

Planning a college visit? Need to meet with a military recruiter? Need to schedule a visit with a potential employer? Students are awarded (2) college/career visits both their junior and senior year of high school.

It is the responsibility of the NZ student to set up an arranged visit or appointment (date, time, name of person appointment is with, phone number of office), complete the College/Career Visit form, and have it approved by an attendance clerk two days before the  visit is scheduled. If you do not follow these steps, your visit will be marked as an "absence" and not an "excused college/career day" and will count against exemptions.

1. Download and fill out the College/Career Visit Form.

2. Turn in a signed copy at least 2 days BEFORE your visit.

3. Bring back official documentation of your visit. Official documentation should be on letter head. We do not accept shirts, maps, plane tickets, hotel receipts, etc.

4. Juniors and Seniors are allowed two (2) college/career visits per school year (students are not allowed to save the visits from their junior year so they can have 4 their senior year).

Taking a personal look at a college can help you decide whether or not it's a good fit for you! It's also a great way to show your interest in a specific college. By high school, you should consider setting up formal visits at schools of particular interest – talking to counselors, students, and visiting facilities such as dormitories, labs in your field of interest, and athletic facilities, if you think you’ll be playing sports.
